Barolo D.O.C.G. Del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba
The Voice of the Land
These Nebbiolo vineyards are located in Serralunga with different soil composition and structure. An average altitude of 340m above the sea and 20-30 years old vines complete the identity of this wine.
Luigi and Fiorina have always tended their vines with the utmost care. One episode really illustrates their care. Summer of 2008, two days after a serious hailstorm that hit Serralunga: their vineyards showed no signs of damage because the couple had ‘cleaned’ every single bunch to make sure ruined berries wouldn’t affect the rest of the cluster.
Vintage 2019 and winemaking
2019 was marked by an early bud break, late flowering and a progressively slow ripening.. As normal here, it was sorted twice, first in the vineyard and then on the sorting table. Vinification was carried in vertical tini, with gentle punch down and rinsing of the cap.
A red garnet hue with aromas of red fruits, candied flowers and cedar lying on hints of leather and spices. Warm, soft and dry, it has full-bodied tannins, but balanced by a fresh and gentle acidity. The structure is powerful in every aspect.
